About the role
We are hiring an SDE-2 Frontend Engineer to own and scale the frontend of our customer-facing SaaS platform, which centers on time-series data, real-time dashboards, charts, and data visualization.
You will drive features end to end, from technical design to production, make architectural decisions on rendering and data fetching, and help raise the engineering bar across the team through code reviews and mentoring.
What you will do
Product & delivery
- Own the design and delivery of complex dashboard modules end to end, from requirement breakdown and technical design to release and monitoring.
- Build high-performance, interactive charts and visualizations for large time-series datasets, keeping interactions smooth as data volume grows.
- Make sound decisions on Server vs. Client Components, caching strategy, streaming, and rendering patterns in the Next.js App Router.
- Design efficient data fetching and state management with TanStack Query, including pagination, background refetching, and cache invalidation.
- Profile and improve frontend performance (Core Web Vitals, bundle size, render cost, perceived latency) and set measurable performance budgets.
- Build and maintain a reusable component library on Tailwind and shadcn/ui so the product stays consistent as it scales.
- Work closely with backend engineers on API contracts and query shapes so data arrives at the UI chart-ready and fast.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to frontend standards, testing practices, and documentation.
- Partner with product and design to turn ambiguous requirements into intuitive, data-dense interfaces.
- Take part in production debugging, monitoring, and incident resolution for frontend issues.
System design
- Write technical design documents for new features and modules, covering trade-offs, data flow, failure modes, and rollout plans, and review designs written by peers.
- Design the frontend architecture for data-heavy views, including how time-series data is aggregated, downsampled, paginated, and cached between the database, API layer, and client.
- Define caching layers end to end (CDN/edge, Next.js server cache, TanStack Query client cache) with clear invalidation strategies that keep dashboards fast and accurate.
- Plan for scale: large datasets, many concurrent users, multi-tenant data isolation, and graceful degradation when upstream services are slow or unavailable.
- Choose appropriate real-time patterns (polling, WebSockets, Server-Sent Events) based on freshness requirements and infrastructure cost.
- Contribute to frontend authentication and authorization flows, including role-based access to dashboards, data, and features.
- Collaborate with backend and DevOps on deployment architecture, environment strategy, and observability (logging, error tracking, performance monitoring).
What you bring
- 3–5 years of frontend development experience, with strong hands-on React and Next.js in production.
- Deep understanding of the App Router, Server Components, caching, streaming, and rendering strategies (SSR/SSG/ISR).
- Proven experience with time-series data and data-heavy interfaces.
- A track record of shipping charts, dashboards, and responsive, reusable components with Highcharts, ECharts, or similar libraries.
- Experience building SaaS dashboards where low latency was a core requirement.
- Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills.
- Working knowledge of TypeScript and of writing maintainable, well-tested code.
- Comfort reading and writing SQL to shape data for visualization.
- Ability to own features independently and drive them to completion on a remote team.
- Strong written communication, self-management, and the ability to give and receive code review feedback constructively.
Nice to have
- Azure: Microsoft Entra ID (authentication, SSO, app registrations), Azure RBAC, Azure Container Apps, and Azure Front Door (global routing, caching, WAF).
- AWS equivalents: Amazon Cognito or IAM Identity Center (authentication and SSO), IAM roles and policies, Amazon ECS on Fargate or AWS App Runner, and Amazon CloudFront with AWS WAF.
- Docker and containerized deployment workflows.
- Experience with real-time updates (WebSockets / Server-Sent Events).
- Prior experience mentoring junior developers.
- UI/UX design sensibility, including familiarity with Figma.
